In 2022, MSF teams around the world continued to respond to crises, old and new. While COVID-19 was not the emergency it was in previous years, new challenges arose. The war in Ukraine escalated in February; the political, humanitarian and economic crises in Haiti deteriorated severely; cholera emerged on an exceptional scale in several countries. 

Agy Agy, 28, is a logistics supervisor with Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) in Cabo Delgado, Mozambique. He explains the insights of preparing and carrying out relief items kits distributions in a fluid context, where recent violence and rumours of attacks have displaced more than 80,000  people since early June, the biggest wave of displacement so far this year in this northern Mozambican province hit by conflict since 2017.

The northern province of Cabo Delgado in Mozambique is one of the poorest regions in the country. Those living in Cabo Delgado have been suffering violent attacks from a Non-State Armed Group since 2017—attacks that have left close to 700,000 people displaced, traumatised, and without access to essentials like water and healthcare.

MSF teams have mobilised to provide medical assistance to people fleeing intense violence in Cabo Delgado, Mozambique. Since attacks began March, hundreds of people have fled the coastal city of Palma to nearby towns in search of safety - most fleeing by foot and hiding in the bush for days.
