Testimonies of Rohingya refugees fleeing Myanmar

Since 25 August, over 620,000 Rohingya refugees have crossed the border from Myanmar into Bangladesh. Their arrival comes on top of hundreds of thousands of other Rohingya who arrived in previous years and were already living in difficult conditions. MSF has significantly scaled up its medical, water and sanitation efforts in support of the growing population. The makeshift settlements are densely populated and living conditions remain precarious. If the situation doesn’t improve, there is the potential of a public health emergency. 

Mohammad Idriss 11 years old is a patient at the Kutupalong clinic in Cox's Bazar.

Yasmin, 19 years old with her daughter Fatima 2 years old. Fatima is a patient at Kutupalong clinic in Cox's bazar, she is suffering form severe malnutrition.

 

Jamila is 25 years old and her husband is blind. She gave birth to her third child 15 days old in Kutupalong clinic, Cox's Bazar. Her baby suffers from severe malnutrition.

Rohima, 20 years old has fleed the violence in Myanmar in October 2017. Rohima has been treated in Kutupalong clinic for an abscess on her back due to the beating she experienced in Myanmar.

MSF's Dr Rafil is describing the work inside our Bahlukhali clinic and the need for more infrastructure to respond to the high level of the population in settlements.
